What It Does

Furnace Transformers are the powerhouse behind steel plants. They are used to step down high grid voltage (33kV/11kV) to very low voltages (100V - 1000V) but with extremely high currents required to melt scrap metal in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) or Ladle Furnaces (LF).

The Challenge: During the melting process (especially the "bore-down" phase), the electrodes frequently short-circuit against the scrap metal. Regular transformers would fail instantly; our units are mechanically reinforced to survive these daily shocks.

Design Features

Built differently to handle the "Arc":

1. Rigid Bracing: The coils are heavily braced and clamped to prevent movement during the violent vibrations caused by high current surges.
2. Heavy Copper Busbars: The secondary side features massive copper terminations to handle thousands of Amperes without overheating.
3. Advanced Cooling: Due to the immense heat generated, these units often use OFWF (Oil Forced Water Forced) cooling heat exchangers.
4. Wide Regulation: A specialized On-Load Tap Changer allows for wide voltage variation to control the arc intensity during different melting stages.
