3 Phase Line Chokes Transformers

A 3 Phase Line Choke (often referred to as a 3 Phase Line Reactor) is not a transformer in the traditional sense, but it's an inductor used in 3-phase power systems. It’s commonly placed in series with the power line feeding into Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), servo drives, or other sensitive equipment.

What is a 3 Phase Line Choke?

  • It is a three-phase inductor.
  • Placed between the power source and equipment like a VFD or servo drive.
  • Made of coils of wire wound on a magnetic core—looks physically similar to a transformer but functions differently.

Where is it Used?

  • Before a VFD or servo drive
  • In industrial automation panels
  • In motor control centers
  • With AC drives for HVAC, pumps, and conveyors
